Giovanni Fontebasso, Short Testimony about Lakefield
Giovanni Fontebasso is the Vice president and Governor of the Craft Guild of Chefs, and also one of the Patrons of Lakefield. He has been invited to carry out some kitchen observations with level 2 Professional Cookery students. This session is part of the orientation programme and it is designed to develop students skills at a higher level. Its aim is to give opportunities for individual assessment and to receive invaluable feedback from top chefs in the Hospitality Industry. This programme gives value and unique experience for the students that will educate them for the rest of their lives.
The girls were preparing the lunch and dinner menu for the day for 150 covers. It was a great eye opener and inspiring experience having Giovanni accompanying us one day in the Kitchen of Lakefield, he made me feel so comfortable because he was a very warm and positive man. His Catering career gave him the opportunity to join the Craft Guild of Chefs in 1976 and after becoming its National Chairman for two years; he was appointed Trustee of the Association and was awarded the titles of Life Vice-President and Governor. In 1992 he joined the Rotary Club of Godalming and in 2003 he moved to the Cranleigh Club becoming its President in 2006/7 period.
