April Poblete received Cherry-Grainger Prize 2015 from The Worshipful Company of Cooks of London

April Poblete, Alumni´14, is the new winner of the City and Guilds Cherry- Grainger Award for 2014.  The award is considered one of the most important competitions in the Hospitality Industry. The competitors have to demonstrate their skills in different areas of Hospitality services.

 April Poblete achieved her Level 3 Supervision and Leadership NVQ qualification last year. The cooks livery company awarded her with the Cherry Grainger Prize 2015 in recognition of her success.

After receiving the award April said “It was a privilege to be awarded and to be part of the Prize Winners Luncheon.  It was an overwhelming feeling to be chosen as one of the winners for City and Guilds. I am very thankful to Lakefield for giving me the opportunity to develop my skills and for believing in me. It is one of the most memorable experiences of my life, I will never forget it. “

The aim of their programme is to generate a body of cook apprentices that might benefit from the unique attributes of the WCC – its history and place in the City of London. Equally, it may generate a reservoir of ‘new’ Cooks’ Company members. Their Annual Prize Giving took place in Innholders Hall, and  a number of both military and civilian prize winners were present.

April Poblete is a past trainee and currently working at Lakefield as the supervisor in accommodation services and food beverage service. She is also the assistant community manager of Lakefield.
